ROG G752VT - Brand new laptop(s) same BSOD. Details inside
Hello experts,
During the past 2 weeks i've been having some troubles with my brand new laptop and i want to make sure that this is not a hardware malfunction. Since my experience with debugging windows errors and troubleshooting such issues is pretty limited and basic i would like you to help me out with this before returning the unit to the vendor.
ROG edition G752VT laptop
8gb ram (1 stick)
gtx 970m
i7-6700hq
1tb hdd
no ssd
The only attached peripheral is a logitech m185 wireless mouse.
Nvidia drivers are latest (the only one system notified me needs update).
The laptop crashes, everything freezes for about 10 seconds or so then it automatically restarts. This only happened while having lineage2 (game) in background and browsing facebook using chrome, this time i had a steam download happening. Every bsod i got happened 1 second after i clicked a facebook or youtube link that opened a new chrome tab (not that it matters that much). The laptop came with w10 preinstalled and i was the first person to start it. I do not have any dubious, pirated or black market programs since i like to keep my system clean.
I'd like to point out that i got the laptop yesterday, had some issues with CPU load in background, it was about 20% used while doing nothing. Tracing the issue lead me to some ACPI.sys file that was using these resources unnecessarily. googling around i found out that this might be caused by a variety of different drivers/programs/situations.
Today , the CPU was in a normal state of 1-4% load in idle (the problem just got away...)
After the last crash i also did a memtest using the w10 built in tool, 2 passes, it's probably not relevant. It found no issues.
Another point i'd like to make is that i have already returned one laptop exact same model, because of the exact same crashes and situations.
I will really appreciate your input and thank you in advance. If there's anything i might of missed or you need extra information from my side don't hesitate to reply. I'm usually an active person.
Regards,
Dan.
