I have uninstalled Avast now. What else should I do?

Test your system and see if you can reproduce the error.

I would also check ASUS for driver updates for the Broadcom network driver, there are no drivers at the site of Broadcom.

The trouble is that the error occurs randomly so I'm not sure how I can reproduce it . There are some drivers on the asus page for my motherboard but I've already installed it once or twice before

No problem, just do what you normally do and see how it goes :)

I was already afraid of that, but keep it in mind to watch for regularly.

Should I uninstall the broadcom wireless driver from the device manager and reinstall the wireless drivers from their website?

You could also remove the drivers and reboot, that'll reinstall the drivers too.
But as you have installed the drivers a few times, just see if the problem keeps occuring.
