HP Spectre x360 13-4109na Intel Core i7-6500U HD520 Graphics NEW BRICK

    Hi Chaps,

    BRANDNEW. ARRIVED 6 DAYS AGO
    HP Spectre x360 13-4109na -(Intel Core i7-6500U, Windows 10, 8GB DDR3L, 512GB SDRAM, Intel HD Graphics520)
Supplied with Windows 10home and updated to Windows 10 home with m/s update 1511
Video Scheduler driver STOPPED RESPONDING/ VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR andsimilar Errors ABOUT FOUR TIMES DAILY. Usually whilst using IE/FIREFOX usuallywhen changing page/scrolling. COULD IT BE RELATED TO POPUPS OR OTHER VIDEO ON SCREEN?
Event viewer shows: Display driver igfx stoppedresponding and has successfully recovered. Event ID 4101
    Think this is 0x119 error.

Sometimes blue screens but more often recovers,

    Rolled driver back to
    10 18 15 4256 No improvement.
    YESTERDAY:
Contacted HP chat support (Paul) who (using a minuscule chatbox) promptly
Reset driver to 10 18 15 4256 latest driver and updatedBIOS.
Apologised for the inconvenience and offered me a £20 HPvoucher. NOT ARRIVED
MACHINE STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM after HP support. (QUELLE SURPRISE!!)

If I were not otherwise quite pleased with the machine and had not spent a few hours setting it up it would be sent straight back - it may still be!!

Nevertheless, keen to sort it out. thanks for your help.

There appear to be some beta drivers available here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...7-8-1-10-15-40 - but I cannot get the Win 10 64 bit version to install.

"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer" error arises.
there are some instructions to bypass this here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/23325...9190911446231/
I do only have one graphics card. Is this the way forward?

OK folks followed the instructions carefully, essentially telling the P.C. to search yourself, have driver and have disc then navigate to folder you have saved and extracted to. Note also, it is best to download the zipped file since it contains graphics, display/audio and language items and so you can choose graphics separately. I could not get the single 154012 exe file to load the graphics driver. Now running beta driver 20.19.15.4326 dated 18.11.15. Time will tell

Well, no recurrence for 36 hours so marking as solved - famous last words eh?!

Yes, spoke too soon. Made the mistake of turning to tablet mode and twice had the worst screen problems yet experienced.

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

    To note:
    Attachment 52520

As the 0x119 is GPU related, please stress test the GPU and clean install the drivers.
Please uninstall everything of Intel graphics using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Intel. Be sure to ONLY install the drivers using custom/advanced options.

    Thanks Axe,
I need to read the tutorial since I do not know how to keep an eye on GPU temperature or what is considered high.
I know how to uninstall all drivers but also need to clarify "install the drivers using custom/advanced options" do you mean self install rather than letting the machine search the net?
I have had no further incidences for two day now so am hastening slowly!!
    Your help much appreciated.
    Best wishes,
    Mike.

Please can anyone recommend a nice simple GPU temperature monitoring program? This machine is a 2 in 1 laptop/tablet so I am assuming the GPU is integrated.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

Thanks Axe for your revised suggestions.
Have had no recurrence for four days now so this beta driver is better than any other. Will hold off taking action until another issue occurs. Can even switch to table mode now with no terrible flickering which is what happened the first time. Since I shut down then and restarted I have had no further problems.

    Best wishes,

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

I have the same laptop, and have several problems with the graphic card. In the last days the system is always freezing (windows 10, bios and intel driver: all updated, and the driver is the last version from 23.12.2015).
Do you where able to solve your problem? How did you do it. Did you use the Display Driver Uninstaller and instal the beta version of Intel (Beta 15.40.12.4326).

    Best regards,

    Wildlife

Hi, Cannot recall whether I uninstalled the old driver. More likely installed 15.40.12.4326 over the top so I could roll back if necessary.

Having done that and had some terrible flashing of the screen when entering tablet mode about a month ago everything settled down I and think I have had only one very minor glitch since then. Like you, also updated bios to latest. Happy to check any other drivers against yours if it helps.

SORRY JUST TELL ME WHAT 23.12.2015 IS THE DRIVER FOR ON YOURS?

Since no real problems at present am not going to try anything more drastic. Perhaps you should switch to tablet mode once and see if yours settles down like mine did?

    Best wishes,

    Mike.
