    BSOD - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (139) | avc3.sys

    Hi,

May I hereby seek assistance for the following BSOD issue please.

    Code:
    ******************************************************************************** *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (139)
A kernel component has corrupted a critical data structure. The corruption
could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: 0000000000000003, A LIST_ENTRY has been corrupted (i.e. double remove).
Arg2: ffffd00022176820, Address of the trap frame for the exception that caused the bugcheck
Arg3: ffffd00022176778, Address of the exception record for the exception that caused the bugcheck
    Arg4: 0000000000000000, Reserved
I've been frequently getting BSODs from cold boot right after POST. I am suspecting it has something to do with Bitdefender 2016 as the driver mentioned below points to Bitdefender's Active Virus Control filter.

    Code:
    Probably caused by : avc3.sys ( avc3!UcAddUrlEntry+2f704 )
I wish to understand the root cause of this issue. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Arthur

    Hi Arthur,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

The root cause is Bitdefender not fully compatible with Windows 10 as you already have find out.
Please uninstall Bitdefender using the uninstall tool, use Windows Defender for a while and see if the problem persist.

Thank you, axe0. I have uninstalled Bitdefender 2016 and reverted back to Windows Defender. I will test it out for a few weeks to see if there are any more BSODs. I will report back and change the status of this thread accordingly.

Update: Uninstalling BitDefender 2016 has since resolved this issue completely. There is no more encounters of BSOD.

Hello, just to confirm the same. Bitdefender 2016 is just NOT working.

On my desktop I had W10 + BD2016. BSOD on BSOD. Then fine for a week after having reinstalled every single driver. After an update from Windows concerning Windows Defender my BitDefender warned me all security features were switched off. Tried to switch them on. BSOD and after that... Computer just went crazy.

Reinstalled Windows 7. First thing I did, installing Bitdefender 2016. BSOD fiesta... I was not even able to install Internet Explorer 11...

I kept on looking for hardware issues:
    - reinstalled my old ATI 5870. BSOD.
    - unplugged the WiFi Ethernet bard. BSOD
    - switched Windows primary drive from SSD to HDD while unplugging SSD. BSOD
    - switched of HDD. BSOD...
    - tested Ram all ways possible, switching slots, Memtests. BSOD, no issues...

Then I realized that everything went bad because of a Windows Update and that first BSOD came while I tried to switch on Bitdefender.

    Reformatted everything.

    Didn't install Bitdefender.

    Everything is great...

On my Surface I have Bitdefender 2015 and everything is going fine. I will try to prepare everything on my computer and install BD2015 instead. Maybe it functions...

    Does anyone know?

    LoL

If Bitdefender2015 is OK with Windows10. It should since it causes me no issue on my Surface, but just to make sure it's ok on a Desktop too

That is something you best find out yourself, for everyone it is different due to the variations of the possibilities with Windows.

Please keep in mind that the surface and desktop are different, even when the same OS is installed and even when everything regarding software is the same. Sounds odd, but it happens frequently that when a setup is completely identical 1 of the 2 is having problems while the other is perfect.
