    I get the following message:

    Code:
    This app can't be started.

Error: Unable to detect a Windows system drive. This could be due to missing drivers, an encrypted drive, or a corrupted Windows installation.

    Error Code: 0x8004cc01

One last thing I know that maybe could help, though it is a great doubt due to the lock of the hard drive, but I think it might be worth it giving a shot.

    Diagnostics Test

     System File Check

    Please try following:
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
    • When it finished reboot your system
    • Open again an admin command prompt
    • Enter sfc/scannow again

How can I open an Admin command prompt? I am no longer asked to log in.

    By booting from recovery media.
Once booted from recovery media, go to the advanced troubleshooting options. In the advanced troubleshooting options you can find command prompt.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if that was regular Command Prompt or not.

The first time I ran it, it instantly BSOD.I ran it three more times, and each time it said:
    Code:
There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run SFC again.

It's also getting harder and harder to even access the advanced boot screen (even when loading from USB). The whole system just freezes up. I'm guessing this is not good.

    It is not good indeed.
Unless you find a way to scan the hard drive and unlock it, I cannot suggest something else then a re-install.
I have no other ideas for this.

I'm incredibly annoyed that I cannot recover my files, but thank you anyway. I really appreciate your help trying to solve my problem. The issue has now taken another turn though... I decided to do a full reset from the advanced boot screen and wipe all of my files, but it BSOD during that and, now after the bios, I get an error stating that no operating system could be found.
I'm assuming that I now have to reinstall from a CD, but since I updated from Windows 8.1, I don't have one.

Thanks for that. I've spent the entire day trying to get it to work, but it just BSODs almost instantly, that is, if it gets past the BIOS screen. The BIOS either freezes completely or goes to a black screen most of the time.
I think what was a software issue is now a hardware issue (maybe it was all along) so I'm going to take it to a local repair shop and see if they can diagnose the problem.

Thank you for your help. You've been great! :)
