    A reply, thanks @essenbe :)
    http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php or http://zorinos.com/download.html or http://www.ubuntu.com/ .

They are different distros (versions of Linux). They all have a 'Live' version. Just don't install it. You can boot from the CD/USB you create with the ISO and use them just to try them out. They run out of ram and I like using them to tell if it is a hardware problem or a Driver/Program problem. The OS installed is not loaded and not used, so it takes that out of the equation. If you need any more help, just let me know.

    Create live linux usb http://bootableusb.net/install-windo...e-using-rufus/

    Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Cinnamon 64bit is a good choice, the top one on the download link.

Download the ISO. Insert a flash drive. Start Rufus, point it at the Mint ISO and press Start. It should be bootable of UEFI or Legacy (Bios)

Don't worry about Linux. Once it loads click around and you'll soon find Firefox or similar. It's very similar to Windows but not windows.

    It's quite intuitive.

You might even like it !

If you haven't already, disconnect all of your HDDs . Using 1 stick of Ram. Boot off Mint Linux. Then you know for certain nothing weirds going on.

Keith did you try clearing the CMOS ? What version of the Bios is installed. F5 is the latest. Your CPU needs at least F3

It's getting to the stage now where I'd consider flashing to the latest Bios revision. What's your thoughts axe ?

It sounds to me really like a faulty/failing motherboard.
