I played a game and it works to play it. I played 3d armagetronad. Still fan doesn't work.
I am also asking how to fix my issue with the fan at the forum based on the distribution of gnu/linux I am using and seeing if their is a fix within that distro. My heatsink fan is not working. | Trisquel GNU/Linux - Run free! maybe that info could help you find a solution. :)

No I don't hear anything and my laptop is hot right now. I also moved my ear close to the fan output and I hear nothing and feel nothing blowing out. Could it be the battery on the motherboard? cause I read that the fan is controlled by the bios is that true?

I will be using my old laptop until I get this fixed so I don't damage my laptop any further if I already have. Because I think the 7 bad sectors might be an error because it happened after I upgraded to windows 10. So I will do a fresh install of a new System and see if I still get those errors and if I do I will replace the hard drive.

    The fan is not working!

If you mean the CMOS battery, certainly not, that only holds data from the BIOS for synchronisation with the time and some other stuff.

With a laptop you won't find anything in the BIOS related to the fan.

    How old is your laptop?

You are right I checked in bios and there was nothing about fan settings in there. I restored the bios settings to default in bios and that didn't fix the problem either.
I got the laptop in 2012.

at least I think I restored the bios setting to default but it was still password protected afterwards. My bios password protects my computer from turning on I have had this setting for years but could that be the issue?
