Ok, David. Sounds like a good plan.

Didn't think of that about the firewall. The manual command may be an exception to the firewall rule. I see you're checking the site.

Please don't mind me. I'm just stumped as to why it works for some and not others. Trying to look for a common denominator and see none.

Is this a predominant problem that you know of? Haven't been cruising the forum lately all that much to notice.
Anyone trying to help others is NEVER A PROBLEM WITH ME.

Looking at Microsoft Community Forums I have found 30 posts or 'ME TOO" clicks on Mail App problems.
By far the #1 problem App in Windows 10

At the Norton Forum nothing on Win 10 Mail Apps except Norton Spam Blocker is not blocking spam emails. I checked the HOTFIXES area and nothing on Mail App email being blocked.

I have taken your idea one step further and DISABLED Norton Firewall (permanently) and then did a restart. The restart reactivated Windows Firewall, I double checked it at Control Panel > Windows Firewall.

Because I have several email accounts I sent myself 2 emails and early indications are that you could be onto something not recognized on the Norton or Microsoft Forums. I will know more later today. Will keep you updated.

On the two email samples, my mail app live tile displayed incoming email, also I got sound and banner notifications.

PS later post : You are really on to something, I am going to post this on Norton Forum and
    see what replies I get.

Interesting to hear how this goes

I just the use the built in firewall, no 3rd party one, so there could be different causes of this problem

Same here, no 3rd party firewall app. Panda Cloud AV without firewall + Windows firewall. Notifications and live tile still does not work.

I have used Pop Peeper mail notification for years and it works fine.
You can set it to check your email for what ever amount of time you want from multiple accounts.
    I usually download it from download.com .

    Just a thought.

Thanks, David. I just got to feeling like I was being a pest. Not saying you, but some people are emotional with frustration coming on seeking help. They expect an answer pronto.

I could be on to something. That was the only difference I saw between our systems, save OEM brand. 90% of problems stem from drivers and probably not that, but we can't eliminate that as a cause yet either. I've heard of more weird things.

Good that it's working for you. You got that far. :)

Could be that when the Email app when installed upon OS installation that one some machines it may make an improper firewall rule. Not sure if it's the app installer's (Windows installer?) responsible in performing that or if it's the firewall installer's function since yours is 3rd party. Not that savvy to know myself.

    Again, good luck.

Please see my post answering David. Could be something is making the wrong firewall rule even if it's Windows firewall. We shall see.

And as you stated, Paul, it could be something else even both. Could be totally different for others.

Hi there, ronfiveo. Welcome to the forum. :)

That's very considerate and kind of you to post that, however, some users prefer not to use 3rd party, especially when there's a global feature for such that should work.

for me, receiving mails is working fine, just don't get notified of them

Can you post your Anti-Virus info? Which company and version? If you are just using Windows Defender post that.
I am using Kaspersky Anti Virus. Turned off Windows Defender.
