Import Favorites some are missing in Edge

Hi, I'm using Edge and having a problem when I import Favorites from IE.

The problem I have is one folder in particular, St. Louis Rams that has 22 items in it, (see screen shot below) only one item/bookmark came over when I imported Favorites from IE to Edge. I checked, and as shown in the snip all the links are there. Also went to here %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default and all the links are there too. The only place they're missing from is the Favorites in Edge after importing favorites.

I have tried importing them several times with no change in the St. Louis Rams folder, I did learn that as bookmarks are added in IE you can just import them again from Edge and it will only add the new ones to Edge favorites.

Does anyone have any idea why those didn't import with the rest of the links? And is there a way short of going to every site and bookmarking it in Edge to get them in Edge?

To solve this problem I just highlighted each of the sites I wanted in file explorer and left clicked to open properties, then I highlighted the URL went to a tab, pasted the URL and went to the site. Once I was on the site I used the "star" in the address line to add bookmarks, create folders, etc...

Would have been much easier to import them along with the rest of my favorites from IE but this worked and now they're there. Thanks to anybody that read my post, I guess there's no solutions right now. Edge has glitches and isn't (IMO) near as obvious (organize favorites, add favorites) and easy to set up as IE was, I hope this isn't as good as it gets for Edge.

Also don't like that the folders are at the bottom of the list and individual links are at the top, I have bookmarks probably in the hundreds and have folders within folders. I've tried to manually swap them (folders at the top, links at the bottom) but it doesn't stay after you close favorites.

    Hi there

I agree with you --seems Edge is more designed for those wretched tablet things and mobile phones. I prefer by a UNIVERSE the layout etc of IE -- edge is fine for a quick browse on a tablet - but on a decent desktop -- I'll pass on it from what I've seen so far.

(Also I might be in a minority of ONE here but I also HATE tabbed browsing).

    Cheers

I do like tabbed browsing since I'm usually on multiple sites and it makes moving between them easier, for that it works great. So far I've set Edge up as much as it can be, when I open a new tab I like it be in front and Edge doesn't seem to have that option (yet) I'm hoping that it will quickly come up to IE in ease of use and functionality for end users.

Something I've noticed over that last few days while using Edge is the taskbar glitch is gone. I thought I remember you posting about a problem that your taskbar wasn't hiding when it's set to hide. At that time I was seeing an intermittent problem with my taskbar hiding and not hiding when using IE, since last weekend it is consistently not hiding when using IE, Waterfox, or Firefox.

It works every time when I'm using Edge, it seems suspicious that the hide taskbar function doesn't work with anything except the "new Edge browser" It could be something specific to my computer but I don't think so. For the time being I'm using Edge exclusively just to give it a longer trial than a day or two.

Thanks Shawn, your tutorial was the first place I looked when I started working with Edge. By looking where the tut directed me that's how I was able to see all the bookmarks had been imported but for some reason a few weren't showing in Edge Favorites.

You can be assured the tutorial section is generally the first place I check for most questions, although forum members can reflect their personal experience and how something worked for them.

Imagine today being the big day of release you've been busier than a one-armed paperhanger on the forum

You have often mentioned in the past that you hate tabbed browsing. How about explaining exactly WHY?

I think I had the same issue where even after importing Favorites from IE many did not show in Edge. I found this article and followed the directions and now Edge shows all my favorites.

What I don't understand is where Edge actually keeps its Favorites. They are not in my Favorites folder for sue.

Check this tutorial under Option One Microsoft Edge Favorites - Backup and Restore in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums favorites are kept in an obscure folder.
    %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default

    Thanks for posting the article.
