    Good by IE

I've been using IE for my browser for years, but now I am finally done with it. I really got tired of seeing a message that says, "Internet Explorer has stopped working and will shut down. " I always like the spell checker (IESpell) with IE, but I have discovered that you can also get one that will work with chrome.

I've received the same message with Chrome and Firefox. There's a reason if your app is crashing a lot, and it's not typically the app itself. Common problems are poorly written extensions, malware (sometimes we don't even know we have it), and sometimes just corrupted files.

When IE starts to become unresponsive, I just Reset it under the Advanced tab in Internet Options, then I nuke it using Ccleaner, then clean the DNS. Yeah then I have to set everything up again and reenter passwords as I need them, but I leave my add-ons off and turn them on only on a need of use basis. This cleans out any corruptions or conflicts out(can happen after IE is patched or an add-ons was updated)

I just did that so will now try IE again. But here's another question: When I installed Chrome, I set it as my default browser and I can't undo that. I went into Settings in IE and clicked on, "Let internet explorer be the default browser". But it's not. I even went into settings in Chrome and it said "Chrome is not your default browser." There was even a place in IE settings where I put a check mark under the place that said let IE open a link that you click on. But when I click on a link, Chrome will open.

I have finally given up on IE and am now switching from FireFox the the new edge each for a day's testing. I like both and Edge seems to work best in most situations except the sell checker will not over ride a few web site editors. In most cases the spell checker will underline in red a misspelled word, so one right clicks for the correct spelling. However, a couple forum editors this feature will not work, suggesting that editor will not allow Edge spell checker. Any suggestions?

You were using Internet Explorer in May/June 2020?

Yes, I have been switching around from IE to FF and then Edge; just a test-o'ing. Each has features I like but I know IE is doomed so will give it up. Will never use Chrome though. It is hard giving up on the IE habit because many Moons ago I started out with Netscape and IE seemed to fill the void after Netscape died.
