Changing default alias in windows 10 mail app

How do I change the default alias in the windows 10 mail app? I changed the default alias for my microsoft account and it messed up the mail app. Now I have separate folders for each address and the inboxes are linked in one folder, but I just want it so there is 1 set of folders. How do I do that?

Now there are copies of the same emails showing up in my main inbox even though they are going to 1 of the 2 addresses. How do I fix it/

    Hello carp, :)

Removing the account for the email address you don't want in the Mail app may be able to help.

I don't want to remove the other email. I want to keep them going into the same inbox, but like how it was before. I had both emails going into one inbox and there were no duplicate folders or emails. Now the emails are going into their own folders, but being linked in one inbox.

Are both accounts listed as separate accounts in the Mail app when you open Settings -> Manage Accounts in Mail?

If so, then removing the old one should do what you want if both email addresses are aliases of your Microsoft account.
