    This is why I had suggested earlier to try a different user account. If there isn't one, create it, then try to open Edge. This step is to see if the current user account is corrupt.

    You can also try running SFC, to see if it has any effect on opening Edge.

    @aardvark, the exact message was:
    This app can't open
    Microsoft Edge can't be opened using the Built-in Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again.

    @AmericanPharoah, I'll run the troubleshooter within the next hour, and post back.

    I was really asking for the original message your co-worker received when she tried to open it. IMHO, a fix to use it with the built in admin account may not fix her issue. BTW, is she normally setup as a local admin?

    That usually means that UAC is disabled. Make sure it's not.

    Great news! Glad to see it has finally been sorted. :)

    We can considered this issue closed.

    By design none of the modern Apps will run with an elevated Administrator account. The built in Administrator account is always elevated so is incompatible. The built in Administrator account was never designed for general use. It is unsafe to access the Internet with such an account and it has other issues as well. Create an admin level account for general use. Or better yet create and use a standard account.

    Unless you have a compelling reason to do otherwise it is best to use an OS as designed instead of looking for workarounds.
    Is this with the latest builds of Windows 10, because I'm using the original build, and my account is set as "Administrator" and I can open Edge and Tiles. I just built a new system using build 1511 I think, and I set up a local account w/Admin rights. I keep getting an error that I "Can't open edge using the built-in admin account", but I'm not IN the admin account.

    Are you saying this is by design?

    I have it shut off with a 3rd party app, so this is the fix? I'll try that. I also have updates shut off the same way, I think it simply shuts off wuauserv. DO I have to have updates activated as well?

    That was it, I had UAC shut off. Damn,. they won't even allow us to disable nag screens. It works when the slider is at the bottom position, but it resets to position 2
