    Windows Live Mail won't install

I get a Windows Live mail failed to install code 08007643. It says some other program is keeping it from installing, but it doesn't tell me which one. I have turned off antivirus and firewall. I have also "Run as administrator" and logged in as administrator and same thing. Any help will be appreciated.

WLM comes as part of a package in Windows Essentials.
If it is your first time trying to install Windows Essentials, you will be asked to install a Netframework 3.5 first.
If you decline to do that, you won't get to install Windows Essentials.

Were you using this link to install Windows Essentials ?

I know it comes as a package. I have installed it before many times. I did download it from the link you posted. I have Netframework ver,s 1,1.1,2,3,3.5 and 4. I downloaded Ver.3.5 again just to see if that made a difference.

    Clint,
just installed WLM on the latest preview - without issue..

so is would have to be another program preventing the installation...

Which one, would be a guess, as I have not seen any prior report..

You need to have WINDOWS firewall turned on in order to install Windows Essentials.

I have turned Windows Firewall and Defender back on. It still won't install. After trying everything else that I can think of, I did a repair install of Win 10. Still won't go.

I have 176 GB free of 250 GB SSD. That should be enough.

This happened to me last week when I was helping out with a Windows Live Mail problem.
I tried to install the WLM 2012 from my old download. It failed with the same error 08007643.
The message indicated another problem was preventing me to install WLM. So I shutdown and downloaded from the current Windows Essential web page:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/essentials
    It installed fine!
Afterward I discovered that it was documented in:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/974061

I never gave any thought about this until this post!

I gave Clint the most current download link.

Clint has other bug(s) preventing him from installing WLM.
