Remove DNS Unlocker from Edge browser

I somehow managed to get an infection of DNS Unlocker on my laptop. Using various products (Malware bytes McAfee etc) I have managed to eradicate it from most places (Firefox now clean etc.) but it is still, obstinately and persistently present in the Windows 10 Edge browser. Every time I try to use Edge, after a few minutes I get unwanted windows opening, a message in the bottom left saying adverts will start in 5 seconds (it's always 5 seconds and never goes down) and annoying popups obscuring the website I actually wanted to look at.

Any ideas how to get rid of these unwanted intrusions from Edge?

    Keith

PS. I wonder if the morons who write this stuff realise that adverts forced in front of a user who didn't ask for them aren't going to have him saying "oh yes, that's a good idea, I'll get that product". They're more likely to make him say "I am going to boycott forever any organisation or service that uses such obnoxious methods."

    Hi Writerman,

It sounds like you might still be infected. However, I'm not sure that 'DNS Unlocker' will be detected by your McAfee or not, as I think that DNS Unlocker is more of an Adaware or spyware type of a bug, rather than a virus per se.

With that said, I would have thought that MalwareBytes would have corrected it, but perhaps not. Have a look at the below links, as they offer some additional information, including using AdwCleaner.

There's also another free one called Super AntiSpyware, that's good to have around as well, which might also work, however ADWCleaner was specifically mentioned.

Remove “Ads by DNS Unlocker” virus (Uninstall Guide)
    UnInstall DNS Unlocker

I got DNSUnlocker removed but what I used was Malwarebytes once, found the DNSUnlocker Folder on the HDD and deleted it, rebooted then ran Malwarebytes again which found several entries still on the computer and deleted them. It's been 2 days now the the client says the problem hasn't come back.
