Edge -Favourites -- no way to organise

    Hi there

When will Ms start realising that not everybody wants a browser that looks like it was designed for a mobile phone or a tablet.

There's no way to organise the favourites unlike IE --even a simple sort is missing. You can create a new folder but why are we missing a simple sort. (For new folder in Edge favourites simply right mouse click once you've got the list of favourites).

    Cheers

You keep bringing up things that aren't even in the other browsers, then acting like everyone expects those things.

I don't know of any feature in any of the browsers that allow you to automatically sort favorites. As with edge, you have to drag and drop to rearrange them. There may be extensions that allow this, but it's not included by default.

EDIT: I did just find a "sort by name" function in Firefox, but it's not there in Chrome or other browsers. I guess IE has it too, but never noticed it. Still, Chrome doesn't have it, and that's the most common non-MS browser. So, given that Chrome does not have this feature out of the box, I fail to understand how Edge not having it makes it "look like a phone or tablet".

You can sort alphabetically in IE by right clicking and choosing sort by name, or drop and drag.

Personally I find Edge perfect for setting up though it takes a bit of work to sort out either alphabetically or subject wise in folders, though once done everything is almost instantly attainable.

You can choose between side menus or drop down menus from a favourites bar.

[/I]I know this thread is a bit old but I just started using Edge today and this was buggin me and I just figured it out.

I opened up file Explorer and went to
    C:\Users\My username folder
and pasted this at the end
    \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default\Favorite s

I had two folders in there I opened them and right clicked in a blank space and selected Sort By Type. Then I restarted Edge and all were sorted properly

There was no way I would continue to use Edge like that and there was no way I would sort them by moving them around with the mouse I have 501 files .

The full path to the folder is:
    Code:
    C:\%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\MicrosoftEdge\User\Default\Favorites

I have written an app called EdgeManage that will allow you to better manage your favorites in Edge. It currently will allow you to:

    • View favorites and folders in a graphical tree
    • Use "drag and drop" to move favorites and folders around
    • Sort all or portions of your favorites
    • Rename folders/favorites
    • Manually add/delete folders/favorites
    • Edit the URLs inside favorites
    • Import favorites from an HTML-based bookmarks.html file
    • Export favorites to an HTML-based bookmarks.html file
    • import/export favorites from Internet Explorer.
    • Backup and Restore the Edge database (can be used to copy to another PC)
