Only other thing i can think of at this point is corrupted files. Is Microsoft Edge working well or any other browser ? Have you done all windows updates and were they successful ?

If IE 11 is only one not to work you can try running system files checker. At an (Admin) Command Prompt copy and paste this and press enter, let it finish

    sfc /scannow

Same open Command Prompt copy and paste this and press enter, let it finish

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

After reboot the PC, then try IE 11. Let me know if you receive any errors running these commands and if SFC finds corrupt files it fixed or can not fix.

Starting at the top of your suggestions, I looked over my updates and found an "internet explorer 10" update that had not been installed. I have been on auto updates and have not been checking. I dont know why this was not installed, (or why ie 10?) but I installed the update, which took several hours. After all said and done still no working Ie browser. My other browsers (google, firefox) do work. I have not run the commands yet as Im not sure where the command, or admin command prompt is in windows 10. Im also wondering if I even have ie 11?? I dont know how to check which version of ie I have without being able to open. I will run the commands if you would be kind enough to provide more information on how to find.

Sorry i did not realize that you were a novice at using a computer to explain things better. Strange to me is how you have an update for IE 10 when has been IE 11 since i believe Windows 8. You upgraded from what, Windows 7 or 8.1 ?

Can not think of a exact area to look for the version of IE you have on PC now since you can not open it, but once before you told me in Control Panel you turned IE off and on again. If go back to same place again in the Control Panel and select " Programs and Features " and to the right is "Turn Windows Features On or Off ". After that windows loads, on the list it should show IE 11 or whatever is there, let me know first .

Admin Command Prompt can be opened by right clicking the Start button, see it on the list (Admin) Command Prompt.

I checked as you suggested and it is IE 11. I looked back thru the update and I misread that was an IE update for windows 10. sorry about that.

Here is an error message that has come up recently "AMD Raid exped time out task 10"

I will report back what the commands reveal.

Where exactly are you seeing this error about AMD RAID ? Not sure it is exactly worded right as you put it, but a RAID is a hard drive setup. Could be something to do with some software on PC, SATA Controllers (be where drives are hooked to inside the PC), since i know not much about complete system specs be hard for me to know, try to tell me or show me exactly where this error was. DISM can take time.

Error comes up a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes after boot up. shows up on desktop lower right with norton markings on it. after this disappears I find a triangular caution icon in tray lower right. when I click on this I find a similar message. hard to get it all as it disappears before I can write down. dont seem to be able to copy it.

What Norton Product do you have ? Probably Norton performance monitor. Not sure this had anything to do with IE issues.
