Microsoft Edge font size and style changed for some reason

In the last day or two, I noticed that the font size and style on the vast majority of websites that I visit has been changed, and it's not a good change! It looks like Times New Roman now, and though I don't know what the font style was before, I know it wasn't this. Also, I have no idea what a typical web font size is, but it seems that the size now is probably somewhere in the 8-10 point range.

Nothing has changed in my settings that I'm aware of - at least I'm not the one that made any change. I currently have zoom to 250% which is what is recommended for this Dell XPS 13. That's what it's always been set at, and everything looked fine before.

Almost everything from Google, to Facebook, to my Feedly feed - you name it - is displaying this new font style and size. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there some way for me to change it back?

When I previewed this post, the screenshots I've attached don't seem to illustrate what I'm talking about. In fact, it looks fairly normal. I suppose it's being zoomed in the screenshot, but trust me, it's much smaller on my screen.

Regardless, if you have any advice, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks.

I have seen exactly this (although I'm not 100% sure the font was the same it certainly changed). It can be fixed by making another account.

Another option to fix this and other weird Edge behavior (for example here) is to delete the following directory (instead of creating new user):

    %USERPROFILE%\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

Note just clearing the cache doesn't work - from various tests it seems to be the actual counters.dat file causing the problems.

As counters.dat file is locked you need to change the value of the key Cache at "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" to something else (for example %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\Temp). The folder is recreated automatically in the location specified on the key when you reboot.

Next, reboot, delete the old INetCache folder in %appdata% and change the key back to how it is in the picture.

Reboot again and a clean INetCache will be created in %appdata% and you can delete your (hidden) temp file.

What account are you talking about?

Your user account. So if your user account is called Fred you could make another called Fred2. If it works in the new account then that is the cause.

Ok. So I created a new account and the font problem is there also. What would you suggest now? Deleting that directory you described above? I'm not proficient at that type of thing and don't want to do anything that might negatively affect anything else.

If the font issue is there in the new account then the workaround above wouldn't help, sorry.

You might see if logging on to the Admin account fixes this problem for all users, but see this: Change Windows fonts - Windows Help
(Windows 7). Similarly, you'll want to see if you can change fonts in Windows. You might be able to change to default by searchin on your computer for change system fonts

I'm already using the administrator account (it's the only account on this computer), but thanks anyway.

Here are two additional screenshots of the exact same page. You can clearly see a different font and size. The first one is Edge and the second one is IE. Again, this just started happening either yesterday or today. The Edge font looks to be Times New Roman and is too small. It used to be the same as IE which is much better and easier to read.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

The admin bit was only a part. Did you do any of the rest that I posted?
