    desktop shortcut for google

Bottom left says search the web and windows, but it just shows replies from bing. I cant even find how to do a desktop short cut for google. Desktop shortcut used to be so easy. Is W10 going to turn out to be more difficult to used than 8, or is it really easier once you figure things out?

Click start > All Apps, open the Google folder and right click the Google Chrome > Select open File Location >right click the Google Chrome >select send to > Desktop (shortcut).

Or from all apps, right click Google Chrome and select pin to start or pin to taskbar. Whichever you want.

    You don't have Google Chrome.

You just want a link to Google on your desktop, right?
Open your browser, go to Google.
Left click and hold on the Google icon to the left of the URL area, drag and drop it on the Desktop.

I'm assuming you want a shortcut so your browser opens google.com rather than making a shortcut to Google Chrome. If not I apologise.

There are many ways to do this. As I don't know what browser you are using this is the surest (if perhaps not the easiest) way..

    1. Right click on your desktop and select New and then Shortcut

    2. In the location box type "h ttps://google.com"" and then click Next.

    Note   Note
there should be no space between the h and the ttps://google.com - it is only put there to stop this forums software turning the internet address into a link that you can't read properly.

Enter it as in the picture below :)

    3. In the name box type "Google.com" or whatever you want to call it, and then click finish.

    4. You will see the shortcut on your desktop. When you double click on it it will open you default browser and go to google.com.

It is no harder once you get used to it. Really very similar in my opinion.

    Good luck :)

Well, you could make a shortcut to google as described above and then google "make ie the default browser in windows 10"

Seriously though, if you want to set IE as your default browser see here : Internet Explorer - Open in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

If you want to change your home page, look here : Internet Explorer Home Page - Add or Change - Windows 7 Help Forums - I can't see one for Windows 10 but it is the same procedure
