Can't reinstall valid copy of Outlook 2010 in Windows 10

    Upgraded to Windows 10.

Everything was fine for about a month until I had a disk crash. After several days I got that fixed and did a clean install of Windows 10.

Now I am trying to reinstall Outlook 2010 from the original DVD. Valid product key (setup validates it).

Setup runs, then encounters an error (doesn't tell me what), and backs off all files.

As far as I can tell, Windows 10 is saying the SETUP file is incompatible, not Outlook 2010 which Microsoft states is still compatible with Windows 10.

    Any suggestions?

Is there a compatibility wizard (right click on the setup.exe file on the distribution DVD and select whatever it says about compatibility)?

    Already tried that. Same problem.

    Tried running setup as administrator.

This time I got an actual error message:

The file Proof.es\Proof.MSI could not be found.

Check your version of office 2010? It can be 32 or 64 bit.
You can not install Office 2010 64 bit on a Windows 10 32 bit environment!
But a 32 bit Office 2010 will work on Windows 10 64 bit setup.

Yes I am trying to install 32 bit version. Get the same issue with the 64 bit version though.

Now you got an error message that is little easier to debug.
I experienced the proof.es and proof.msi not found when installing Office 2007.
It turn out to be a bad CD\DVD. I copied the content of CD\DVD to a folder in the hard drive. Like magic, it completed the installation without problem.

    I tried that. Didn't work.

Tried a MS Fix-It. Rebooted. Going to try again now.

You can download the Office 2010 Prof Plus trial version. It is (was) good for 60 days. Here is the link:

I have not done it lately. We are all on Office 2013 Prof and preparing to migrate to Office 2016 pending on our testing result!
