Hi there, I am new to the forums. I have a question. On my system, Chrome sometimes uses an extremely tiny amount of RAM. This peaked when I was watching a YouTube video and Chrome used only 174MB of RAM?! I thought many people said Chrome was resource-intensive, or maybe something is wrong with my browser? My Windows version is (Windows 10 22H2 Build 19045.4291)
That's 1 window. Open up 10 & U'll be using 10x that. If U want a faster version without all the spy nonsense, try Thorium.
Yes, Chrome is supposed to be a memory hog.
Mine is taking up about 4 GB of RAM currently.
While Chrome is the active window, press Shift+Escape. What does it show there?
Also, make sure to see if your Chrome is up-to-date. Press the 3 dots -> Help -> About Google Chrome.
Once you open that, it should automatically try to update to the latest Chrome. My version is: 124.0.6367.92

Memory is a complex thing, you wan watch the presentation by MS, but to sum it up task manager does not show "real" memory usage. Even MS uses more reliable Process Explorer at presentations, I prefer System Informer.
For example: TM show Edge using 232MB, while SI shows it using 418MB and 755MB based on the type.
How much ram is this? (4 tabs open)
