unable to play video from CNN Website

I have an ASUS laptop. Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3271)

For some reason, am unable to play video from CNN Website. Always get spinning arrow, but no video. I do have AdBlock, but I have turned that off. No difference. Other NEWS Website, no problem. Any ideas?

    Hi, could you kindly provide:
    - the URL
    - which browser and version you're using
    - details of how a different browser behaves

Your title mentions a missing driver. What makes you think that might be so?
Please post a screenshot of your Device Manager.

    Thanks.

Video: Taylor Swift concerts cause economic boon across US | CNN Business

For me, this picture has an arrow spinning all the time. Waiting to load.

Using Chrome Version 115.0.5790.171 (official Build) 64 Bit

Same video/website from Firefox. The picture pops up, I get a triangle to press for play, and the video runs, no problem.
Same with Chromium Edge. Video runs, no problem.

Missing driver?... Because it will not play in Chrome.

Not that good at "print screen" But there are no "?" or "!" showing.

Try to disable hardware acceleration. You will, ehh, save the planet, and avoid issues with GPU driver.
I block everything, yet it works. Aside from cnn.com you also need to have allowed cloudfront.net

    Thanks, that's a lot clearer.

FWIW, plays for me on Chrome v 115.0.5790.111 with hardware acceleration enabled. and v115.0.5790.171 (after Chrome updated). Feel free to try with it disabled as TairikuOkami suggests.

Try Chrome in its approximation to safe mode (no extensions): here's how:
Safe Mode in Google Chrome How to Start & Open

    - you need to create a specific shortcut.

Do you mean using a restore point has worked?

You gave no indication as to when this started in your first post. I.e. a restore point could only be useful if you knew this had started after one was created... sadly few people give a time-related history.

No. I mean, I gave up. Nothing worked. I screwed up the SafeMode because I had to delete the line that was there, and type in something else. When that didn't work, I tried to retype in the original line, couldn't get it right, so I used the Restore Point and that worked.
Not worth this much trouble to get 1 Websites video to work. If I have to, I'll just use Firefox or Edge.

    Have you tried..

    - clearing cache and cookies in Chrome?
    - in Chrome, Settings, Reset Settings?

There are alternate sites that play a stream of CNN's channel. I use an alternate site, which also has other News Channels on there. Honestly, I'm not sure if I can post the channel's website in a reply though.
