@Johannes - Is your system current with all updates, including from the manufacturer ? I think the problem may be with your internet connection. Did you contact the ISP ?

One other thing, disable any extensions, including adblocker and AV, you have on the browsers and see if any difference. Lastly, consider a refresh/reinstall of the browsers.

I do check regularly for updates for windows 10 and HP, so I think that all is up to date.
I shall first disable the ad blocker and other extensions before contacting my ISP and see if that may be problem.

I actually tried first to X out the loading page, when that did not work, I went the regular route windows logo, power button shutdown, but that did not work. reading your link, I should not push the PC power button for as long I did.

It's worth trying to find other ways that avoid having to force a shutdown. But sometimes you end up with no choice.

In addition to what you tried, you could open Task manager & try to close applications from its Processes tab.

I forgot to mention that it was also something I tried.
Therefore my decision to use the PC power button to shutdown and restart.
So far, I have followed all suggestions, but the problem still persist.
Some websites open real fast like before the problem started and some do not.

The only advice I have seen that might be relevant to your situation is
AvoidPageNotFound - CaledonKen post #2 - TenForums
and, as I think was suggested by somebody else earlier on in this thread,
Flush DNS Cache - TenForums
Flush DNS Resolver Cache - TenForumsTutorials

Personally, I don't think they are relevant. The fact that some websites open normally makes me think that there is some shortcoming in your browser.
Therefore I suggest that you test both the good & bad websites in more than one browser - Edge, Firefox, ... and report the results.
- Install / reinstall at least one third-party browser from scratch so that there is no possibility that your previous settings are the cause of the problem.
- Include at least these parameters as columns in your results:

browser,
whether newly installed/reinstalled for this test,
web address tested,
result [seemingly normal loading, seemingly inexplicable delays in loading, ...].

I won't be able to interpret your results but hopefully somebody else will join in who will be able to.
@Caledon Ken - Do you have any thoughts?

Thanks, I am going to try those suggestions.
Since I did test the same websites in Edge and Google Chrome already, I shall start with installing a third browser.

I did first follow the DNS etc. links and then downloaded Firefox.
The problem websites do now open at normal speed.

I would think that uninstalling then reinstalling Chrome would sort out any problems it had. If uninstallation involved a stage at which you were asked to confirm that all exiting settings should be deleted then I think you'd have to accept that option.

I don't know if it is possible to uninstall then reinstall Edge but these tutorials look relevant to achieving the same end.

Just to show you that I am also human, there's a financial website that I use that repeatedly suddenly logs me out and falsely accuses me of having clicked on my browser's Back button.
It's been doing it in three browsers.
It does it less often in Edge but I hardly ever use Edge [which makes me think it's got something to do with temporary files or a cache but clearing these has no effect].
I've never found a solution or even an explanation.

Resetting Edge and deleting and re-installing Google Chrome fixed the problem.
