    MS Outlook

    Hi All,
After the e-mail from MS telling me to apply the patch to WLM that broke it, I decided to try out MS Outlook. It came with MS office 2013.
I have 2 E-mail accounts, 1 is with Hotmail.com, and the other is with Gmail.com
Both are working just fine, with 1 exception:
When I start outlook, the accounts should update / download new mail, but only my Gmail account will. If I want the Hotmail account to update, I have to click on “work offline” to get it to go online. Apparently the default setting is offline. I looked everywhere I can think of to change the setting to be “online”, but could not find it.
Anyone know where to change the setting?
    Thanks
    Sven
PS: I reinstalled WLM and it is working, however I would like outlook to work also

    Hotmail on Outlook

I wonder, did you use the 'Outlook connector' from Microsoft when setting up Outlook for your Hotmail account
    32bit
    64bit
the version to use depends which version of Outlook your using not on your operating system version.
It's such a long time since installed this I can't remember the sequence of events, I have a Hotmail account that works just fine in Outlook.

It's the only thing that springs to mind, i presume you've tried deleting the account and re-adding it.

    Hi Pissant,

I never heard of outlook connector. I set up my Hotmail account the same way I set up my gmail account.
I will try to delete and re-adding it first, because the program is for office 2010 and does not mention windows 10 either.
you think it will work on Win10 and office 2013

I downloaded the file and tried to run it, but it gives me : you need office 2003 or 2007 or 2010 to run this.
Also I reinstalled the Hotmail account and got the same problem.
it tells me I am disconnected when I click on the inbox. I then have to click on "work offline" twice, once to go offline and then to go back online to get my mail on my Hotmail account.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

When looking for info on Connector I found a link to this page:
Add your Outlook.com account in Outlook for Windows - Outlook
Don't be put off about the mention of Outlook.com, it's mostly the same as Hotmail.com and Hotmail username and password should work just fine.

The 'Outlook Connector' makes setting up the account very easy indeed, all I have in Outlook Accounts settings is this...

MS Outlook-hotmail1.jpg one dialogue box to complete.

I've found this alternative guide, more involved method using a POP account if you'd like to give it a try...

    http://www.setup-outlook.com/outlook2013hotmail.php

If you would like more help I'll need to know exactly how you setup your Hotmail account and what your current setting are, in order to try and determine what if anything is wrong with the setup.
