Anyone getting a sudden increase in junkmail? (Windows Mail/hotmail)

The past few days, I've been getting 3+ spam emails every day throughout the day. It doesn't correlate to any other subscriptions I've made. I'm using the Windows Mail client with a hotmail address, it's all very obviously junk and I don't know why Microsoft aren't catching it.

Any suggestions? Should I use another email client?

This will vary quite significantly between people due to the fact that some people sign up any chance they get with legitimate credentials where as other people avoid it as much as they can, If you are not aware this is at the epicenter of spam mail.

My spam count is quite low and often my spam folder if it ever has anything in it, will often be legit emails that have just triggered the algo i rarely get actual spam.

Try not to use your email for everything try to discern where it is actually warranted many places online are just harvesting data that they can sell on.

Example order a pizza from Dominoes just type email@email.com I am not fully certain but id say systems like this are checking regex and would be looking for the @ symbol and probably the .com at the end and the logic here is the pizza shop does not need your personal email right? and flanking the system like that will allow you to order the pizza still.
When in store and i always look at the monitor and 9/10 ppl are using their real email when its pointless. This is just one example

Want less spam? Then learn when and where you have to use your personal email and only give it when its absolute necessary like registering on a forum for example or registering to a govt website etc.

Also look at minimizing your online footprint. The less credentials you post everywhere the better less is more.

Anytime i can falsify credentials or straight up avoid filling them out i do so. Only when it is something crucial that needs real credentials then i will do so and submit real ones.

Taking it one step further have one email that is business only and is only used for business or work related endeavors. The email should have next to no spam really because it basically never gets handed out to anything online except a very niche category.

Have a second email that you use for everything else generic if you apply some of the principles i have described then this email will get spam still but it should be pretty low. I just checked my generic email now it has 18 spam email in it all of which are from a sender that i am subbed too for legitimate purposes although they just triggered the algo and i can see why its because they sending one email a day and their domain name and email name don't match.

Has been reduced with the help of an ad-blocker though.

I do do this, for example with public wifi. I'm just looking for a solution for this to stop currently happening.

I have had my Hotmail settings to allow emails from only addresses I have marked as safe senders to go to my Inbox ,that I have with Thunderbird email client. This has up till today worked fine.

For the past month I have been getting a lot of junk emails which I see when logging on to my Hotmail account.

What I have found worrying is that two emails from companys I have never had dealings with slipped through into my Hotmail Inbox today that have never been marked as safe senders.

When the account was first setup about 20 years ago I was very nieve and chose a simple email address and of course this is/was easy to spam.
