    Windows Mail app background bug

Something quite minor but annoying nonetheless.

Anyone else having the issue of the Mail app not applying a background immediately when choosing a custom wallpaper through the "Browse" button in the Mail settings? You'd have to restart the app to let it take effect.

I forgot to mention that this issue only happens when choosing a custom background through the "Browse" button in the Mail app settings. Not talking about the standard backgrounds that are already visible to choose from.

Does this issue occur when choosing a custom background via the Browse button?

    Mail app: Version 16005.14326.20544.0

Windows 11 Dev build, and Windows 10 Pro 21H2

It's instant with selected pictures via Browse too

    And your version? Mail app.

You could reset Mail app. Go to Settings / Apps ( click on Mail and calendar - Advanced and select repair. Reset would be the next step, but in this case the data and settings of the app are lost

    I'm using 21H2 with Mail version 16005.14326.20544.0.

I've yet again discovered a more specific way to reproduce this. The issue only appears when the Mail app background is already set to a custom background and then choosing another custom background through the "Browse" button.

The issue does not occur if the initial background was a standard one.

Sorry but could you please test this final method and let me know?

This I can confirm. When another picture (via browse) is already selected, selecting another via browse won't work.

You have already proposed workaround - select one of the offered pictures, and then select another via browsing. This works for me.

You have found a bug- report it on Feedback hub. MS will surely look into it

Thanks for testing. I have made a feedback report. Is it possible to upvote it through this link ?

On mine if you change the custom image that immediately appears in the Background list, but to get it to show as a processed background either

    1. Click on a Preset image, and then the Custom one.
    2. Close the App and open again.

In both cases subsequently you can click on either Preset/Custom image and it will change instantly.

Not so sure that is a bug, as each custom one is processed in some way.
