    Problems with firefox


    I have been using firefox (89.0.2, 90.0.2, 78.12 esr) for a while and I am not satisfy with the way it functions.

    1) It use up 60% of cpu resource while surfing and closing (edge and IEuse only less than 10% of cpu resource).
    2) Check up task manager, it has about 6 firefox programs running in background when surfing or even closing it.
    3) In volume mixer, it has 2 firefox programs running while edge and IE only has 1.
    4) Some icons in bookmark not display properly which is fine with edge or IE.

    I think firefox does not run well in win10 than edge and IE. Is there anything I can do about it or perhaps I should
    stay with edge or IE or any other brownser that function well with win10 ?

    And also where can I download free ms outlook and also where can I get webpage translator plugin for IE11 ?

    Launch it with addons disabled and see if it's any better.

    Click hamburger icon> Help> Troubleshoot Mode

    Other than that backup your profile and clean install Firefox.

    Profile backup:
    Hekasoft Backup & Restore Portable - Files - Downloads - Hekasoft Backup & Restore - ToolsLib

    Uninstall Firefox:
    Download HiBit Uninstaller - MajorGeeks

    Check here for Firefox leftovers and delete if found:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    Press the [Windows key+R] to open a Run dialog, type in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\ and click OK to open the Mozilla folder, then delete the Firefox folder if found.
    Reboot.
    Download a fresh copy of firefox and install it.

    Maybe consider using the 32bit version (which I always use even on 64bit machines)

    Directory Listing: /pub/firefox/releases/90.0.2/win32/en-US/

    ESR: (Select Windows 32bit version)

    Download the Firefox Browser in English (US) and more than 90 other languages

    Then remove the crap using Avast Browser Cleanup (only for 32bit Firefox)

    Nowhere near that for me.

    As stated disable addons via troubleshoot mode and if no difference clean install Firefox 32bit.

    It does sound as though something isn't right with your Firefox and likely that troubleshooting will remedy this excessive cpu usage.

    I used Firefox many years ago, before switching to Chrome and then finally finding Vivaldi. Both those previous browsers have likely enhanced their features since I used them, however; I still believe they're all junk in comparison to Vivaldi browser. I use it for Android & Windows.

    All browsers have plus & minus features, I have yet to identify anything I couldn't fix on Vivaldi whereas Firefox & Chrome both insist on protecting me from my own choices. I refuse to accept that form of manipulation.

    I'm thinking that I might install Firefox, Chrome, & Thunderbird on my test PC, they might be helpful for testing, troubleshooting & coaching.

    The only challenge I've had since switching to Vivaldi, was viewing an insecure site. It was quite a PITA to enable full GUI rendering.
    That said, I think I could successfully repeat the configuration again for future viewing of insecure non-https sites.

    I tried Vivaldi after reading your post, i like it, it does not have all the problems that firefox have on me. :)

    It probably takes a couple of days to figure out how to configure it to your liking. However it is highly configurable.
