How do I make a www address a desktop icon?

I'd like to have a few frequently used web pages as icons on my desktop. How do I do this in win 10?

I've saved a couple using the same procedure as in Win8.1 and Win7, go to the site then grab the small icon at the left end of the URL in the Address bar and drag to either the Links/Favorites bar and/or to the Desktop. Double-clicking it opens the browser and takes me to the site. What the icon actually looks like will be determined by whether the site uses a favicon.ico file.

    What browser?
Have you considered pinning the webpages to start menu as well?

Right click anywhere on the desktop

Then copy and paste the address in

Finish by giving it a name.

Then right click on the icon and select properties, here you can change the icon.

Just do what post #2 suggested. Here's a screen shot.

NOTE: Would work on any browser: Firefox, Chrome, IE etc...
@lbeck: IMO, it would be better if you put them right in the browser so they are available without going to the desktop.

    You guys are great.

I haven't tried all the solutions, but I thought I had tried the drag/drop routine that I used since XP and it didn't work. I'm admitedly frustrated with the differences in XP, Vista (which I hated) and 7. Never tried 8. I tried the drag/drop this morning and it works. Sorry that I posted too soon without continuing to try. I got it now.

FWIW I like direct access to some programs like two email accounts w/o needing to go to my browser and finding it in favorites.

    Thanks again.
