    MS Money and IE compatibility problem

    I have used MS Money for years and, although I realise it's now discontinued, it meets my needs and has worked well up until the upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10.

    It now fails to start and states it requires IE 6 to work, although I'm sure that's an old error message. It has always worked fine with IE 10 but not now with IE 11. Any suggestions? Is it possible to "downgrade" IE 11 back to 10?

    Cheers, Norman

    Found this on Microsoft support site

    After much searching I have found this works for me

    MS Money (MoneyDlxSunset) has worked with following registry change.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
    "Version"="9.11.10240.0" (originaly: 9.11.10240.16384)

    I'm not sure about side effect by this change. registry change is at own risk.

    It didn't work the 1st time but tried it again later and all's now OK.

    Spoke too soon. The program starts but crashed when trying to import a .qif file from my bank. When I restart it crashes again immediately because the import process has'nt completed.

    How to resolve MS Money crashes Windows 10

    I have spent about a week trying all that was researched on the issue.

    First, updating the registry does fix one part of the problem. You must change the following that will work
    MS Money (MoneyDlxSunset) has worked with following registry change.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
    "Version"="9.11.10240.0" (originaly: 9.11.10240.16384)

    or

    MS Money (MoneyDlxSunset) has worked with following registry change.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]
    "Version"="9.11.10240.1638" (originaly: 9.11.10240.16384)

    Secondly, you MUST replace the MS Money .dll with the update patch that works perfectly in Windows 10.

    See link and download the patch but delete the old MNY0B99.dll first

    mnyob99.dll patch | Ameridans Microsoft Money Offline Weblog

    Download the patch "here" and copy to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Money Plus\MNYCoreFiles\MNYOB99.DLL

    After completing this, there was no experienced Windows 10 crashes. After importing bank statement, all worked as usual.

    Hope this help those many that love MS Money! Now back in business!
