Yeah this restore UI is the one thing that I think fully drove me back to v7 for now. The old one was less clicks, sigh. Once we can actually rearrange the columns it will be better I think but doubt that will be a thing for the USB to remember and only for full installs.

I agree the display is cluttered and looks especially rough at the mini-font it is. Strains my eyes.

I like it as it is. Features is what I'm after and features it has. Like the way how it shows all backups without having to chase them all over disks.
Anyway, @phrab was so kind to buy license for me for which I'm thankful and grateful. There was no way I could have bought it from here.
Activation went thru seamlessly, just copied license from the invoice Macrium sent me by e-mail and now I finally have a full, licensed home MR. with all bells and whistles. On the insider W10, I clean installed v7 and will keep it until free v8 is released.

You're free to do a clean install as Mike suggested, or after V7 just accept the V8 upgrade and apply it. That's what I did. There is no right or wrong answer.

As far as all the issues anybody could have run into being fixed, that question cannot be answered. I wouldn't concern yourself with fretting over things that may or may not even happen. You have MR backups and the rescue thumbs still work, so you are not jumping off a cliff.

Now, as far as the "teeny" font. There was a patch to V8 just the other day that reverted the font sizes to the same as V7, so that is a moot point right now. Just apply the patch if it doesn't do automatically and you are right back to seeing what you saw before.

Here is an example from my machine. The V8 with the font patch applied.

    Attachment 334813
The top panel is back to V7 fonts, but not the lower panels where drives, backups are displayed. They are still tiny.

Yes they are, that is all MR did, which I guess is better than nothing. More font options coming down the pike, they say.

In the Free version, not much incentive to use differential backups.

However in paid version, incremental backups coupled with Rapid Delta Restore is incredibly useful. I find it more useful (and reliable) to system restore points.

Not necessarily, two of mine updated without asking for a restart. Whether you need a restart depends on what services you may have running and whether of not those services got patched in this update. Common culprits include the Scheduler, CBT or Image Guardian. I run the last two of those, so it wasn't them this time round.
