Should the parts that don't have drive letters have drive letters?

No, they don't need drive letters.

If you want to "back up my Windows installation", you need to make an image of ALL partitions on Disk 1, as I demonstrated in my previous post.

That will create a file somewhere around 80 or 100 gb in size. One big file containing ALL partitions on Disk 1.

Save it on disk 0 or disk 2, wherever you would normally save a file. That would be either E or F.

Think of partitions as the cigarette packs within a cigarette carton. The bare carton is the drive. The packs are the partitions. Files go into the partitions as cigarettes go into the packs.

@way2ob2se, after @SIW2 good summary of your two internal drives and one external external drive, if there any questions that come to mind, please ask us.

Seems like you have a good ideal setup with Windows on one drive (probably a SSD) and data on the other drive (probably a HDD).

I made an attempt at making an image. The only drive I "checked" was the one with {C}. I checked all the partitions as well for that disc. When I proceed to the next page, it brings up only the (F) drive and asks me for a destination. The {F} is NOT checked, and I don't know how to get it to do {C} instead.

Post a screen shot of what you are seeing.

F should be your save destination, but should NOT be part of your image.

    @way2ob2se
https://www.tenforums.com/attachment...untitled-2.jpg did you try to change the folder option destination to your external drive?

ignatzatsonic. It seems stuck on wanting to image my {F} drive and not my {C} drive. My external backup drive is actually my {E} drive...so I want to go from {C} to {E}.

steve108, yes I did, but I can't get it to image the {C} {system} drive

It should only image the source drive you selected on the first screen to the destination folder/drive you select.

Just like in the video I linked.

To repeat myself: post screen shots.

    Shut down Macrium.

    Restart Macrium.

Put a checkmark under ALL partitions on the drive containing the C partition.

Post a screenshot when you think you have that done correctly.
