    More information from Paramount Software:

MR 8.0 Free will be officially supported with security updates until year end 2023.
MR 8.1 Will not be free - just a 30 day trial period.

The company asks that all users using 8.1 revert back to 8.0 if they are experiencing problems.
The revised 8.1 release will be sometime next week - keep your eyes peeled.

I find Macrium Reflect to be absolutely first class. I already had purchased a 4-pack license to version 8, but just a couple of weeks ago got another 4-pack license. Their 4-packs are definitely a good bargain and my data is worth it

alright, this thread has over 200+ pages to it, and as much as i should try to sift through it for the response im looking for, that's a struggle my eyes can't win, so apologies if my question was asked & answered for the nth time in a row

I got this EOL notice after updating my v8 reflect free edition, and my peanut brain is processing this as "v9 will NOT have a free edition, maybe the standard 30-day trial, but not a free edition, its paid only from here on", and that scares me

so, confirmation request/question: Will v9 have a free edition done up (either as a standalone download or a mode switch from after a macrium reflect v9 30-day trial ends), or will it actually switch to a paid only model where ill have to buy a license to use this software after that point?

V8.1 & V9 will not have a free version. What happens after the 30 day trial has not been specified yet.

Yes, Macrium have retired v8.0 Free. It will continue to be updated until 1st Jan 2024. The Free license is perpetual, so it should continue to work long after that providing MS don't make any changes to Windows that may stop it working.

There is no release date I know of for v9, but I don't hold out much hope of there being a Free version. There is a v8.1 now (or at least, there will be shortly when Macrium fix the bugs in the initial release). I have tested the v8.1 Trial version. Unlike v8.0 Trial which reverts to v8.0 Free at the end of 30 days, v8.1 reverts to a 'RESTORE ONLY' version. If/when there is a v9 Trial I expect it to do the same.

Simply put, you buy it. The freebie ends with 8.0.
