That is an outdated Beta version 22.5.0.120 and is buggy. Norton has released the retail version 22.5.2.15 which was recently updated to fix the bugs. They updated older NIS/n360 and newer NS/NSwB to this new version. Norton was to release another Beta 3 weeks ago but did not. No further word on what they are doing with the Beta.

All I can say is that since I have replaced MSE with ESET and MBAM on my clients and families machines I haven't had any malware to clean, which is a real change over the last year. I get "teach the user" but unfortunately it isn't so easy on the users that I know.

I get it on sale for about $7-10 and feel it is worth the investment for some.

    Hi there

If any company continuously suckers 100,000's of individuals to fork out even a small amount of money on products that aren't in any way necessary any more they will make MILLIONS of dollars.

However if you read my post completely I did emphasize that it was for releases of Windows LATER than W7. MSE doesn't run on W8 / W8.1 / W10.

This forum is specifically about W10 issues and my remarks are basically valid for THIS OS. MSE on W7 is OK - probably other stuff is too - although the Jury is still out on that one. W7 also belongs to quite an old OS now --technology both hardware and software (and unfortunately criminal and scamming techniques too) have moved on considerably.

W10 comes with a FAR better built in protection than any of this 3rd party stuff designed in the days of the W7 OS (still a good OS but getting really long in the tooth now).

    Cheers
