Well chaps, I decided to go reset windows 10, after which bitsadmin stopped showing up and I wound up downloading and running GMER just for good measure. It didn't find anything that looked like a rootkit lingering around, so I'm gonna call it good as new. I won't personally close this thread, at least not right now, seeing as how there are still some people using it to get some info it would seem, but if an admin wants to close it early, feel free. Otherwise I'll check in from time to time, if only because I'm still curious.
Agreed... we have been treating symptoms rather than diagnosing the real problem...

    simple solution

[QUOTE=bloby12;881030]Well chaps, I decided to go reset windows 10, after which bitsadmin stopped showing up and I wound up downloading and running GMER just for good measure. (snipped to save space and simplify) [/ QUOTE]

Hey guys...I had the same problem and read a ton of threads about this issue. Most of it seemed more than complicated, including forum members saying they would write programs to rectify the situation, others asking for reports from different scans, etc.... Virtually all of it way over my head.
I did find the solution however and it could not have been more simple. It made most of what I read look like The Manhatten Project by comparison. This was quick and easy and EFFECTIVE!

"BITSADMIN" is a part of Windows. The (very quick and well timed screen shots - I had my own too) all show something similar to "x (number) of jobs found" - these appear to be unfinished "jobs"....in my case I suspected it was print jobs caused by hitting my print button when my printer was off or maybe unplugged. (Just a guess, but the results seemed not to matter).

My solution found somewhere in a thread that I believe may have been on another website (I looked at enough "answers" to get me dizzy. But ultimately the answer could not have been more simple.

What worked was this - go to "command prompt".....type in "bitsadmin/reset". Problem should be gone. (it worked for me).

Below is a copy and paste of what this looks like on my computer. Since I had already done the reset, it shows "zero of zero jobs canceled" - but when I first did it, it showed "2 of 2 jobs canceled" - and no pop-up warning screens since (it's been several weeks since then).

    C:\Users\resch>bitsadmin/reset

    BITSADMIN version 3.0
    BITS administration utility.
    (C) Copyright 2000-2006 Microsoft Corp.

BITSAdmin is deprecated and is not guaranteed to be available in future versions of Windows.
Administrative tools for the BITS service are now provided by BITS PowerShell cmdlets.

0 out of 0 jobs canceled.

The "0 of 0 jobs" was showing "2 of 2 jobs" the first time I ran the prompt line. I have not seen the annoying warning windows pop up (instantly disappearing) since.

Hope this helps...and I'm glad it was a simple solution for me.

Here's my screenshot from before running the "reset" (I think it's the same as all the others I've seen posted in regard to this issue):
