Using it since 10130 and reinstall it many times simply by providing my email. If you enable it before running Windows Updater you won't receive the Defender patch. Norton Security works fine since then and is fully under control of Windows settings.
Many problems with AVG under 10074,122,130.

Disagree with your opinion of AVG, never let me down yet.

I haven't trusted Norton software of any type since back in the day it wasn't much more than spyware and a resource hog; I don't know if it still is today.

    Hi there

Why in the world would you want to install Norton AVG on Windows 10 - especially as W10 isn't even finalized yet --all these 3rd party AV systems do is just possibly slow down your machine, cause complications that you don't need to have and may cost money -- the built in Windows Defender is probably just as good as ANY of this stuff these days.

Threats against your computer are more likely to be carried out by simple scams - such as opening links to "Cloned websites" etc rather than any actual viruses these days. Unless you are running computers in a large corporation where people might maliciously want to create Denials of Service etc don't bother with ANY 3rd party AV software even if you download music / movies from torrent sites.

Also any AFTER THE FACT AV reports from magazines etc are 100% USELESS - as in theory new threats could appear at ANY TIME rendering the whole report totally out of date.

Ms updates Windows defender pretty regularly too -- much quicker than the 3rd party people can do. In the past Norton was always pretty resource intensive too.

I'd leave all this stuff well alone these days.

@ Any W7 user reading this -- don't confuse the relatively useless Windows Defender that existed in W7 with Windows defender in W8/W8.1/W10 --it's a totally NEW product built right in to the kernel OS and quite a passable AV system.

In some ways Ms chose an unfortunate name for it -- but there you are --it's a DIFFERENT product with totally different functionality.

    Cheers
