Yes, just to complicate matters further, a new version has been released since we started this conversation....
Yes, but that is the for the embedded version of Flash Player in the browser you are using in that screen shot, CHROME.
Other browsers use different versions of Flash Player.
To verify that you have the current version for IE and Edge, you would visit >>THIS SAME PAGE<< while using THOSE browsers separately. They ought to have updated automatically, if your system is correctly configured.
However, your KTS vulnerability scan shows that you have an older (dating back to September), outdated version of Flash Player for FIREFOX (and similar browsers).
You said you do not use Firefox.
Therefore you do not need the Firefox version of Flash Player.
I am going to try to explain how to uninstall it from your computer, so that it will no longer show up on the KTS vulnerability scan.
I do not understand why 7zip is still showing up in the vulnerability scan. It may be a hiccup with the vulnerability scan.
And I have no idea whether you have been able to update SHOCKWAVE -- it seems that you have not, as it continues to show up in the scan. Or it could be another hiccup in the vulnerability scan.
We are having so much trouble with getting FLASH PLAYER, SHOCKWAVE and 7ZIP properly updated, normally a simple process.
We are also having trouble with simple steps, such as opening the Windows Control Panel
So, for simplicity, I would like you to do the following:
- Temporarily uninstall all 3 applications from the system (I will explain how to do that);
- Reboot (restart) the computer;
- Rerun a manual KTS vulnerability scan to be sure that these 3 programs no longer show up as vulnerable applications;
- Cleanly reinstall the most current version of 7Zip (which I assume you use) and Shockwave (which I presume you also use/need).
- We will NOT reinstall Flash Player for Firefox, since you say that you do not use Firefox.
Please post back and indicate whether you would like to proceed, or not.
If YES, I will try to explain the steps.
If NO, then I suggest that you either please wait for someone else to assist you here, or perhaps consider seeking help from Kaspersky Support; they can help you with the vulnerability scan feature of their software, especially if it continues to flag programs that are properly updated.
Thanks,
MM
how do I get help from kaspersky support I had already signed in but don't know where to find the support. I already looked for it back then to get help but I could not find which link to choose.
Hi:
The link for Kaspersky support is here (the BLUE text is a clickable link to their support site)::)
Having said all that, it appears from your screen shots that all you really need to do is to uninstall the outdated version of Flash Player for Firefox and the outdated version of Shockwave Player. A total of 4 mouse clicks are all that's needed....perhaps consider seeking help from Kaspersky Support; they can help you with the vulnerability scan feature of their software, especially if it continues to flag programs that are properly updated.
(NOTE: this has nothing to do with Flash Player for IE, for Edge, or for Chrome.)
(ALSO: It appears that the 7Zip detection may be a "False Positive", as I get the same item on my own system. You may either use the "Exclusion" button, or ignore the detection, or report it as a possible False Positive to Kaspersky.)
STEP 1:
Picture #1 below shows how to uninstall them -- it is taken from MY computer, to illustrate how to do it.
Picture #2 below shows the 2 applications on YOUR computer to uninstall:
- Click on "Adobe Flash Player 23 NPAPI", then click the "uninstall" button
- Then click on "Adobe Shockwave Player 12.2", then click the "uninstall" button
STEP 2:
Reboot (restart) the computer.
STEP 3:
Run a manual KTS vulnerability scan.
STEP 4:
Post a screen shot of the new KTS vulnerability scan.
Thank you,
MM
Hi:
1)
and I don't know about that installshield what it is and why it is being detected....2)(ALSO: It appears that the 7Zip detection may be a "False Positive", as I get the same item on my own system. You may either use the "Add to Exclusions" button, or ignore the detection, or report it as a possible False Positive to Kaspersky.)
I just saw this on kaspersky it is still detecting flash player even if I uninstalled flash player already....3)Click on "Adobe Flash Player 23 NPAPI", then click the "uninstall" button.
Then click on "Adobe Shockwave Player 12.2", then click the "uninstall" button
As for why KTS still continues to detect the outdated version of Flash Player 23.0.0.162 NPAPI if you say you have already uninstalled it, I have no idea. If you properly uninstalled the outdated version of the Flash Player plugin, then it should no longer be detected. The only thing I can think of is that the application has not been completely & properly uninstalled.
The only suggestion I can make at this time would be to follow earlier suggestions for a complete, clean uninstall and (if desired) clean reinstall of only the versions you need for the browsers you said that you use (IE/Edge/Chrome):
- Download and save to your desktop the Flash Player uninstaller from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player...r-windows.html
- Run the uninstaller tool and follow the instructions -- that ought to completely & temporarily remove Flash Player from the computer. NOTE: the computer will still work just fine, but you may have trouble watching certain online videos until you reinstall it (see below)
- Reboot the computer
- Download FRESH copies of the CURRENT, SEPARATE version of Flash Player for IE/Edge and Chrome from this link https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ or from this link https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
- Install those new, fresh copies of the current, separate versions of Flash Player for IE/Edge and Chrome
----------------------
At this point, I am out of other ideas.
Your best bet might be to follow an earlier recommendation to log a ticket at Kaspersky support.
Since you are having problems with the vulnerability scan feature of their software program, they might be the best folks to further assist you.
Here is the link: Kaspersky Support
Thanks again and good luck,
MM
