Windows Defender question

Is it OK if I have ONLY the Real Time protection turned ON in Windows 10?

Do I really need to have Cloud Based Protection enabled?

Cloud based protection gives you a few hours head start over the local 'definitions-based' protection (or a few days if your definitions aren't completely up to date, Defender will warn you if your definitions are more than a few days old).

In most cases, Windows Defender uses cloud-based protection to detect and block threats the very first time it encounters them. In some cases, Windows Defender will use the cloud to analyze the suspicious program. This analysis helps Windows Defender learn about new threats, so it can respond with protection much faster than on earlier versions of Windows.

It's your choice if you wish to use it. You will be submitting information to Microsoft, so there's 'privacy' issues to consider. New detections will be in the next definitions update, so I leave mine turned off.

Ok, then I guess I will leave only the real time protection enabled.
