Where did everything go? One minute one window says it is checking how much space I will save, then another says it is cleaning unnecessary files, and then Poof, both are gone. Am I supposed to get something that says what it did, or not?

Unfortunately, that's how Disk Clean ends.

If you want to check - run it again to see if there's is anything to clean (look at the size on items in the list - small size means only a bit has accumulated since the last run - large means something wasn't cleaned)
Disk Clean / extended goes deep, that's why I suggested that you run it first.

I'd say just move on to the next step: cCleaner, since you're in the cleaning phase.

    Ok, onward and upward!

I did not see anywhere the option to backup on CCleaner. I am working while getting this done, and the reason for the delays. I, only log in and out of work using my laptop, but for no other reason in regards to job duties, so to speak. I, am getting ready to log off (takes 10 seconds), and just want to hit the "clean" button. I hesitate, because of the "Do not be a myrnsterMash rule "Do not do anything until receiving a response."

What in the heck is this crap folder just found on my desktop that never existed and can not copy and paste (check the date):
Remove PUP application from DVD Drive (F:) CDROM-screenhunter_02-aug.-20-20.57.gif

The folder is named "Lang," is it part of the clean from the command prompt? I have not ran CCleaner yet, until I know to proceed w/o the backup option.

    Hi.
Just popping in until Slartybart continues....
The backup option shows up when you go to clean the registry.

    Ok, yes - thanks simrick.

I just logged on to answer and there you are Cleaning now ...

To be honest I don't know what the Lang folder on your Desktop is or where it came from.
Leave it there for now. It doesn't look harmful, just a bunch of language dlls for some program.

Remember to run cCleaner Registry scan, backup, fix, at least twice.

Were you able to get Bitdefender on a flash drive?
    IF yes,
    Plug in the flash drive
    restart your machine BUT ....

When the screen is off between shut down and startup
repeatedly tap the F9 key to bring up the Boot options menu
If it boots into Windows, you missed the Fkey timing - restart and try again

Choose the USB and press enter
Bitddefender should boot off of the flash drive.

The first thing it asks is about display resolution (I think) - just let it timeout to the default

From there - Bitdefender starts it's process

If you haven't got Bitdefender on a Flash drive -
Boot the machine after cCleaner finishes so the registry changes take effect.

I just do not understand anything, anymore. I decided to format the DVD RW used earlier for the CCleaner that did not burn successfully. Why waste it, buuut "Windows could not complete the format," and no option to erase. Luckily, I have a few more blank ones. You do not like Slickifier, or whatever it is called, so I will make the attempt to Burn, again. I feel the gray hairs sprouting every moment, but what the heck, right.

Nope, did not work. I am done for the night. I did reboot after CCleaner, but Bitdefender is pending, I suppose until I do the flash drive thing. Thanks again....G'night

Ok, forget the DVD ... DVD-RW are not always compatible with Rescue discs and are way too big for this.
A CD-R is all you need if you have one.

I've never used Stickifier - it looks simple enough to use though. I only mentioned the few things to highlight them.
Use exisiting ISO, you don't need to download it in Stickifier, you already have it
Format the flash drive as FAT32 - that's the format Bitdefender Rescue apparently wants
