    Windows Defender

I have removed my previous AV program and want to temporarily return to Windows Defender. I can not get the switch to turn on in Windows Settings for Defender. I have tried turning it on in Service still no luck. Any and all help is appreciated.

From my experience it should turn itself on when you reboot your PC.

Download Enable WD and run it as admin and restart, if it does not work, start Safe Mode and run it from there.

    See if this will help....................

In the search box next to Start button, type ser > Enter...............
You are now on Services window.
Scroll down to Windows Defender Service > right click at it > click Properties............
at Startup type, is the box greyed out or is it active ?
if it is active, click the pointer and select Automatic.
at Service status , is the box Start active?
    if yes, click it.
    Click OK when done.
