Avast! Free does the work too, No need to pay and well. It's your call. Try around with the free version for around 2-3 weeks and then if you feel like an upgrade is needed you can always go for it. :)
It does but AIS comes with a Firewall and other things.

I have no problem paying for the AIS full version, just hoping I'm not loosing the the security I've had for several years with KIS.
However, Kasperski still doesn't have a fix for the Start Menu issues, and I'm not sure I feel like waiting any longer.

I've used the free avast version for years on all my computers, and just about every one I work on, and I think the protection is absolutely excellent.

I used Avast Free for years until they started spying on the user and using Google analytics. Then they added so much junk the program started getting like AVG. Dumped Avast and haven't looked back.

Yeah, but they give you the option of not installing all that "junk" - just uncheck it all.
Personally, I like their software update advisor....

I am using the Free version of Avast and I find it for the most part brilliant. There are a couple of things that piss me off
but, that's life. :) I had no issues with it when I did the upgrade to Windows 10 and it is still humming along, I must bite
the bullet soon and BUY the darn thing, it has saved me a few times. I would recommend to anyone. :)

I use Avast Internet Security and have been for the last 5 years. I had an issue yesterday that made me contact support. Now I was told that the support on AIS is free. The only problem I had was I could not log in to my account. The support person I talked to knew less about the product than I do. He wanted to get into my PC to fix this and informed me that it would cost $179.00. He also bad mouthed Windows 10 and said that while he was in my PC that he would remove the windows firewall and defender. I told him that there was no way I would let you or any other incompetent tech in my PC or anyone for that matter.
I resolved the issue myself this morning and posted on Avast's forum about it as I thought this guy was a fake. I found out that Avast uses third party vendors for Phone support. So then when my subscription runs out, I am done with Avast AIS free or any version. That guy would have no business fooling with anything else besides the product he supposedly supports.
