I've been testing this over the last few weeks. A very interesting bug it has across many different anti-virus platforms is the unfortunate blocking of definition updating programs used in them. I found that in Webroot, Bit Defender, and several other well known antivirus packages that when a definition update occurred it quarantined the executable responsible for updating the anti-virus definitions.

:) I tested this in VM's I recommend you do the same.

First: it was explicitly advised in the original announcement that this BETA software be run only in a VM or similar environment, not on a production system. (That's nothing unusual, as it's always been a "best practice" to run BETA software in a non-production environment, regardless of the program or publisher.):)

As this is the very first beta we do encourage beta users to install the product in non-production environments for testing purposes.

    Second:
there were many reports of F/Ps with the first 2 beta builds.
These were largely fixed with the beta3 build.
Please see here for information: Beta3 Released

EDIT: BETA4 (0.9.12.336) is available for download only (not via auto-updater). Please see here
Please refer to the instructions about how to report a F/P: How to report a False Positive

    Thanks!

    MM

I hope they get this fixed and fully tested before they integrate with MBAM.
It would be a shame to mess up such a good product as MBAM.

    Beta5 now available

Please see here for the announcement and special download link to Beta5 of MBARW:

As this is beta software, the MBARW team encourages beta users to install the product in non-production environments for testing purposes.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but if there is anyone still testing this on recent insider builds (I am) then there is a problem.

Many MS Apps now (since build 14342) cause a false positive (Mail, Calander and in my case the Feedback app).

The .exe will be deleted from C:\Program Files\WindowsApps but unfortunately if you say it is a false positive you can't replace it as you don't have authority. The only solution is to restore the quarantined .exe from your ISO.

If you look at their forums you can see this reported many times.

I'd suggest removing MBAR if you like using MS apps on 14342.

I'm still testing it though. It is inconvenient but that is what a beta is :)

Just an FYI: The C:\windows\system32\drivers\farflt.sys caused a BSOD: page fault in non-paged area when I tried to upgrade to the Anniversary Update. "Anti RansomWare SDK" was flagged by WhoCrashed.
