Weird process running - "Monitor Virutal Wlan Service"

I was checking my system configuration and happened across this weird one!
Weird process running - "Monitor Virutal Wlan Service"-what-.jpg
    Note the spelling:
"Monitor Virutal Wlan Service" - "Virutal" rather than "Virtual" but either way, I can see no reference to such a process on the net.

Searching instead for "Virutal Wlan" turns up a number of items, some suggesting disable a process and some suggesting an infection.

I am running Windows 10 having gone via the 8.1 route without any serious problems. Used to be a member of the Seven Forum. Not really a technical expert, rather a fairly competent pensioner!

    Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks

Welcome to 10 Forums. Open up services and see if it has a definition next to it. Also while there right click and take a look at properties.

Thanks. For some reason, I cannot take a "screen cap" of services window or the actual services properties. Instead, the screen goes grey.

    Purported to be : MS_Virtual_Monitor
Dsiplay name: Monitor Virutal Wlan Secvice (just noticed the Secvice rather than Service!)
    The properties:
    Path to executable:
    C:\Program Files\Broadcom\Broadcom 802.11 Network Adapter\CppWindowsService.exe

    Thanks again.

Bad spelling?? Check also in device manager at your network driver. Also go to file explorer and have a look at the folder and maybe run a malware scan on it with your AV, or Malwarebytes if you have it. Two misspellings are odd...

and the drivers in the above:

Will now run Malwarebytes on the whole computer.

    Again, thanks.

CppWindowsService.exe is also the name for sample MSDN code for a windows service which is also a little odd.

I would disable it and see if wifi still works (I have no such secvice running for Broadcom).

It's the misspelling that looks odd, and wants to see if it's malware or just a sloppy coder(it happens)

MalwareBytes completed without any problems to report.

I am reluctant to disable the wifi at the moment (assuming that's what this does) as my wife is watching a movie on TV, streamed through wifi.

    Thanks

I found this report for disabling the "MS_Virtual_Monitor" on the net but worried in case this is the REAL program that deals with wifi.

Going to have to leave shortly (family visit), so apologies for not replying should anyone have any further suggestions.

If it came up negative it was just a misspelling/typo and I wouldn't worry about it, unless you use WLAN/WiFi and are having connection issues. If it monitors maybe, it is part of a tool or user interface that came with your PC? Or Driver.
