Norton Internet Security, Sophos Rootkit scanner and of course MalwareBytes. It is the internet be careful where you go and what you do once you get there.

I tried the vast majority over the years and the only one that has kept the computer perfectly clean for over three years is Kaspersky . I thought my parents were hopeless as they got infected constantly with Security essentials , no issues at all since using Kaspersky .

    Their Vulnerability scanner is outstanding.

You got to set a few things differently to prevent system slowdowns , used to be a real resource hog, not anymore.

Not for me at all, works perfectly . You have to download their latest version though or it won't be compatible. I am talking about Kas Anti Virus only , their Internet security may be a different story.

In addition to @fredc's excellent advice....

There are some known bugs with the current 2016 versions, some of which were fixed with patch (b), and others not yet fixed.

But, just checking -- did you:
    • Follow the KL "best practices" to cleanly install KIS/KAV/KTS 2016 and to fully disable Windows Defender in Win10, as explained here and here?
    • Use the software vendors' removal tool(s), if available, to completely and cleanly remove all traces of other Antivirus/Internet Security products, as explained here (KL products have always been twitchy about leftover drivers and other remnants of certain other AV products)? (Certain anti-malware applications, such as MBAM & MBAE need not necessarily be uninstalled in order to install KIS 2016, and they can be reinstalled later, if needed.)

I hope this helps a bit,

    MM

BitDefender 2016 works well for me, had no reason complain about it at all.

Could you point out this supposedly good advice by fredc ? I just don't believe it , would need some kind of proof if not too much trouble.

    Ahh nevermind , thanks MM.

See page 112 of the KIS 2016 User Guide at http://docs.kaspersky-labs.com/engli...erguide_en.pdf which states 'limitations' under Windows 10.

I won't be upgrading to Windows 10 unless I can use a fully functional version of KIS 2016 under Windows 10. Kaspersky advised me a fully functional version should be available by the end of September but the documentation indicates this hasn't been released yet.
