Windows Defender+Malwarebytes Pro for now, I'll look at other stuff when I'm more settled with the OS.
Same for me. Have been using WD with MBAM Premium on W8.1 since the start and have never had a problem. WD and Windows Firewall are good products and are a vast improvement on the previous MSE and XP Firewall. Another benefit is that the WD, WF and MBAM Premium partnership are very light on system resources.

Now that we're getting close to the release it might be good to start a thread just for listing Windows 10 compatible security products...

Avast gets my vote, I just don't trust Windows defender virus database and heuristic scans although Windows defender does seem more lightweight on the system and boot times are faster too.

That's odd... because most AV companies use this data base(Avast too) in their AV's, as Microsoft shares it with any company that want's it.

Regardless if Microsoft shares shares Windows defenders database and 3rd party AV companies use it if their software, 3rd party AV companies have been making AV software long before Windows Defender got integrated into Windows and they have their own database on top of the shard Defender database which catches viruses and malware Defenders database misses.

I'll admit Defender on Windows 8.1 is lot better than Defender in the XP days but I still don't think it's better than 3rd party AV software even free ones like Avast and AVG but it sure beats not having any virus/malware protection out of the box for newer Windows users who don't know a lot about the OS and software.

Right now I'll stick with defender until the AV makers come out with verified products and then and only then I might upgrade to a pay version.

Avast fans, there's a one year-license Avast Pro giveaway going on right now. I just got one for my non-Win 10 PC.
Just Google up "Avast-TechRadar Giveaway". Use dummy name and email to get your license if you don't want to giveaway your personal info. :)

Tnx. I kinda gave up on Avast when it refused to work with W 10 and that "spying affair" and using only WD but I'll probably install it on 8.1 and if it still works when it get's upgraded to 10 it might even stay there. Using AVG on 8.1 and it's getting increasingly twitchy, balking at unsigned drivers and programs working over IP like security camera programs I just installed and had to disable AVG temporarily until installed.
