    Windows Defender problems...

I use Malwarebytes regularly but like to do the occasional scan with Microsoft Defender. Recently however I don’t seem to be able to do that. When I go to Settings – Update & Security - Virus & Threat- Windows Security – Virus & Threat Protection - it shows Malwarebytes is turned ON, but Defender Periodic Scanning as being off. If I turn it on it remains on for a couple of minutes then reverts to off again. There is no other option shown, it used to offer various scan options etc. I’ve tried turning Malwarebytes off but I still can’t turn Defender on. I’ve looked on the ‘net and read various ‘solutions’ but can’t really find anything that makes sense…

I ran DISM and SFC this morning and all appears well. Incidentally I'm running W10 10.0.19044

Any advice would be gratefully received. My Malwarebytes renewal fee has gone up by 66% so I may have to resort to running the free version – without real time protection so I need to revert to the Microsoft product.

Any help would be gratefully received.

To use Defender with Malwarebytes you must disable the following setting in Malwarebytes.

Porthos - thanks for your input.

I never seem to have turned this off before. However I did so this morning - and the problem remains...
In 'Security at a glance' it says 'Virus & Threat protection, the threat service has stopped, restart it now'
'Click here' does not re-open it..

    Thanks again.
