    Virtualization and malware


    Does enabling virtualization in the bios and hyper-v make it easier for malware to hide on a win10 system?
    Or do the benefits outweigh the risks? s

    Two things strike me about that article you linked to.

    The first is the date: "This was last published in October 2010"

    The second is this inaccurate statement: "Microsoft Hyper-V, VirtualPC and certain versions of VMware, run on top of Windows..."

    Hyper-V is a Type 1 Hypervisor, that runs below the OS, not on top of it..

    Type 1 Hypervisors sit between the hardware and your virtual machines AND your Host OS.
    In effect, your Host OS is turned into a virtual machine as well....
