Can't connect to shareport drive after upgrade

    Hey All,
I have a backup drive accessed through a shareport connection on my DIR-655 router. My laptop connects via wireless connection and my desktop is wired. I have been using this setup from XP, to win7 pro with no issues using the supplied shareport utility. When I upgraded to Win 10 and tried to access the drive - on either system- the utility sees the drive but makes no connection. I Did some checking and found that the makers of the utility downloaded the latest version - SX virtural link - same issue. Any ideas?? Thanks

I have the same problem. Every thing worked fine on Window 8.1 Pro and windows 7. After upgrade to windows 10, D-link SharePort Utility does not work anymore. The USB hard drive is detected, if I try to connect it, the pop-up window says "Connect to Generic External port failed."

I reviewed the firewall settings of windows 10. But I didn't see any suspicious settings.

It looks like D-link and Microsoft have not fully test the SharePort Utility on Windows 10.
Does anybody has any ideals or suggestions?

    Shareport failure

I have the same problem. I installed Shareport, and it failed to connect, then uninstalled it and installed
SX Virtual Link (S33a3170a) for Windows 10.

After I exempted it from McAfee Firewall, I can see the USB devices on my router, but when I attempted to connect,
WIndows 10 locks up, and I'm forced to reboot the computer to recover.

It appears that File Explorer somehow can't or won't open when requested to do so by Virtual Link (testing with a
    zip drive).

The D_link people are no help, and the SX Virtual Link people pointed me toward buying their router equipment,
    I really think it's a W 10 issue.

I know this is not a resolution, but more discussion may generate some feedback from W 10 experts.

SX Virtual Link 3.17.0 works fine with DLink devices

Just done a re-install of win10 on my HP laptop after a battery failure corrupted all gpt drive info. DLink's current version of SharePointPlus doesn't have proper digital signatures for installation, but SX does. SileX (SX) Technology developed the virtual USB over network program and sells it to lots of other companies who simply re-badge it as their own. The latest SileX version will always be more up to date than the second hand DLink version get it from here -

    bye.

    Shareport and W10

Thanks for the reply, but I have indeed tried the Silex....it causes my router and modem to crash when attempting
to use the Shareport function. I've also tried the Shareport utilities 430 and 450 from D Link with no success.

I've got two W 10 computers now, a new Dell all-in-one, and a desktop with a new 8.1 install upgraded to W10 and
both act the same way. I think this might be router dependent. My D-Link Dir-628 might be the issue?
