    Suggestion for Firewall?

    Hi,
I'd like to know if there's any firewall similar to ZoneAlarm which I've used in the past with Windows 7 Ultimate (currently it is incompatible with Windows 10 and I'm not willing to install any ZoneAlarm beta software). I miss that feature in ZoneAlarm when I'm notified about outgoing connections. Is there any way to control outbound connections on Windows 10?
    Cheers

Comodo firewall has you covered and it's free. And it has options to bug you about every single connection wanting to connect.

I haven't used a software firewall for several years since the advent of broadband and routers with built in firewalls. Doesn't your router have firewall protection?

This, I use hardware and MS's built in. No muss, no fuss.

Leave the computers firewall enabled. It provides an extra level of security which is an established principle in security. The OS firewall is able to do things the routers firewall cannot. About the only time you would disable the OS firewall is in a computer with no Internet access or in a corporate network.

It's not a good idea to rely on the router firewall alone, I'll refer you to this thread with a handful of reasons why, one of which I've quoted.

You can rely on the windows firewall if you like, the windows 7 firewall has some surprisingly good results.

Comodo is a good, thorough firewall. Just be aware that it has many, many settings & configurations. If you would like to investigate it further, you can find the user manual here to peruse & decide if it is right for you.

I use Tinywall and PeerBlock a good combination. One stops processes, the other block IP and ports. Not for beginners, its takes a bit to setup properly. Both compatible with anything, including, Comodo.
